Jasiński Maciej and Piskozub Jarosław

Maciej Jasiński and Jarosław Piskozub are two talented Directors from Bydgoszcz who specialise in documentary films. They have won multiple awards in Poland and abroad, and are members of Bydgoska Kronika Filmowa (Bydgoszcz Film Chronicle) – an informal film school at the Municipal Culture Centre in Bydgoszcz.

Their short documentaries from 2011 – List z rzeki/Letter from the River and Czarna niedziela/Black Sunday – proved very successful and earned the creators several awards during festivals at home and abroad, such as the Nationwide Independent Film Competition OKFA in Konin, the International Film Festival ZOOM – ZBLIŻENIA in Jelenia Góra, the Bermuda Shorts in Mannheim, Germany, the Żubroffka International Short Film Festival in Białystok, and the Camera Obscura Festival in Bydgoszcz. The Directors also participated in an international project Świat od świtu do zmierzchu/The World from Dawn till Dusk, an original concept of Polish documentary filmmakers Mirosław Dembiński and Maciej Drygas. As part of the Bydgoszcz leg of the project, Bydgoszcz od świtu do zmierzchu/Bydgoszcz from Dawn till Dusk, they directed two études entitled Kominiarz/The Chimney Sweep and Most/The Bridge. The latter received the Golden Angel Award in the Lokalizacje Competition at the TOFIFEST International Film Festival in 2014. In 2015, they made their first narrative short film entitled Azyl/The Asylum, which later won the Grand Prix at the Wielkopolska Region Film Comparisons in Poznań.

They have contributed to many films made by the BKF, as well as to the outstanding impression by Marcin Sauter entitled Rodnik/The Source (2016).
