Bydgoszcz od świtu do zmierzchu

An anthology of 18 short films

This is a unique portrait of the city of Bydgoszcz, created as part of an international project named The World from Dawn till Dusk. The series was made by outstanding documentary filmmakers from Poland, Mirosław Dembiński and Maciej Drygas, in which they portrayed between ten and twenty metropolises around the world, but only those with film schools.

The short films the series is comprised of portray different faces of the city, e.d. forgotten craftsman’s workshops, chimney sweeps, the Romani from Bydgoszcz, and a young man from China, who studies at the music school in Bydgoszcz.

The film is composed of 18 individual short films, directed, inter alia, by young filmmakers from Bydgoszcz connected with Bydgoska Kronika Filmowa, the Koloroffon film group, and the Municipal Cultural Centre in Bydgoszcz, and also by novices. The short films were created and filmed by residents of Bydgoszcz, under the watchful eye of highly regarded documentary filmmakers Mirosław Dembiński, Maciej Drygas, Marcin Sauter, Maciej Cuske, and Remigiusz Zawadzki.

18 x Bydgoszcz

Each of the eighteen short films presents different nooks and crannies of the city, starting from historical locations, to sites dedicated to new investments (for example, the construction site of the University Route), various districts, for example the so-called Londynek/Little London, or the network of Bydgoszcz canals. The film constitutes the first-ever detailed portrait of the city.
