Dariusz Gackowski is the Director of short documentary films entitled Podgórna 7/7 Podgórna Street and Kaskada/Cascade, as well as a member of the Grupa Filmowa “Koloroffon” film studio and Bydgoska Kronika Filmowa (Bydgoszcz Film Chronicle).
A Bydgoszcz native, Gackowski studied at the European Academy of Photography in Warsaw and has been the member of the Association of Polish Art Photographers since 2007. His pictures have been featured in many magazines and shown at collective and individual exhibitions. Many of Gackowski’s works are now in private collections, both in Poland and abroad. He presented his photographs during the Bydgoszcz Photography Review, in the Homeless Gallery, at a post-competition exhibition My Europe, in the National Salon of Fine Art Photography in Żary, and at various other events.
His interest in the cinema began during the documentary film workshops held in 2006 by Maciej Cuske and Marcin Sauter. Later on, he filmed critically acclaimed short documentary films such as Podgórna 7/7 Podgórna Street, Do naprawy/Under Repair – a picture about one of the oldest RTV repair shops, Kinooperator/Projectionist – a film about the oldest projectionist at the Documentary and Feature Film Studios in Warsaw, and Kaskada/Cascade.
He also participated in an international project Świat od świtu do zmierzchu/The World from Dawn till Dusk, which oversaw the creation of the documentary film entitled Bydgoszcz od świtu do zmierzchu/Bydgoszcz from Dawn till Dusk.
