Podfilipska Matylda

Matylda Podfilipska is a stage and film actress. She was born in Łódź in 1980, and graduated from the National Film School in Łódź, where she studied in the Acting Department. Since 2003 she has been associated with the Wilam Horzyca Theatre in Toruń.

Thanks to her acting talent, she has had the opportunity to play unforgettable roles in both the theatre and the cinema.

Her most-significant performances in the Wilam Horzyca Theatre so far have been in the plays directed by such artistes as Iwan Wyrypajew, Wiktor Ryżakow, Peter Gothard, Iwona Kempa, Lies Pauwels, Wiktor Rubin, Tomasz Hynk, Bartosz Zaczykiewicz, and Marcin Wierzchowski.

She has also acted in the Studyjny Theatre of the Film School in Łódź, and in the independent Wiczy Theatre. We could see her in television drama in the play Rebecca, based on Martin Crimp’s text, directed by Piotr Mikucki in 2005.

She debuted on the silver screen in 2002 in Agnieszka Holland’s film ,,Julia wraca do domu” (“Julie Walking Home”). Then she played in ,,Syberiada polska” (“Siberian Exile”) directed by Janusz Zaorski in 2013 and Dżej Dżej by Maciej Pisarek in 2014. She also played in many independent films of directors from Toruń, such as ,,Najświętsze słowa naszego życia” (“The Holiest Words of our Life”) by Waldemar Grzesik, ,,Snufit” by Marcel Woźniak and a series of films by Marcin Gładych: ,,Trzy życzenia” (“Three Wishes”) (2009), “Fire Woman” (2009), ,,Ostatni Telefon” (“The Last Call”) (2010), ,,Odrobina Starości” (“A Little Old Age”) (2010), and ,,Panopitkon “(2011).

Matylda Podfilipska has also made guest appearances in numerous TV series, such as Samo Życie (That’s Life), ,,M jak miłość” (“L for Love”), ,,Kryminalni”(“Crime Detectives”), ,,Plebania” (“The Rectory”), ,,Lekarze “(“Doctors”), ,,Belfer ” (“Teacher”), and ,,Diagnoza” (“Diagnosis”).

Her performances were awarded with a ZASP Dramatic Theatre Section Award and a WILAM Audience Award for the most-popular actress in Toruń in 2012. She has been recognised twice with the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship Marshal’s Award.
