Kulesza Jerzy

Jerzy Kulesza was born on 6th June 1923, in Grudziądz. He was an actor and an opera singer.

After the end of the Second World War, he graduated from the Faculty of Law and Administration at the Jagiellonian University. Later on, he studied at the State Higher School of Music in Poznań. In 1949, he made his début on stage of the Silesian Opera in Bytom. Starting in 1952, he performed on stage of the Polish National Opera in Warsaw, soon earning the title of the best Polish baritones.

He was also cast for two film roles. In 1974, he played in the TV series ‘Ile jest z życia’ directed by Zbigniew Kuźmiński, and (also in the same year) in the film ‘Coś za coś’ (‘Something for Something’) directed by Agnieszka Holland.

Under the pseudonym of Jerzy Chmielewski, the actor recorded many popular songs.

Jerzy Kulesza died on 6th August 2017, in Warsaw. He was interred at the Northern Communal Cemetery in Warsaw.
