Baczyńska Matylda

Matylda Baczyńska is a film and theatre actress, who was born on 2nd March 1984, in Włocławek. She has received many theatre awards confirming her acting talent.

After graduating from Secondary School No. 1 in Włocławek, she started her studies at the Ludwik Solski State Theatre School in Cracow, which was later transformed into the AST National Academy of Theatre Arts in Cracow, which she graduated from in 2008. Her graduation project was ,,Klątwa”/”Curse”, a play originally written by Stanisław Wyspiański, and directed by Anna Polony, and ,,Marat”/”Sade” written by Peter Weiss, and directed by Krystian Lupa. Since 2001, the actress has been working at the Ludwik Solski Theatre in Tarnów, where she makes frequent stage appearances. Matylda Baczyńska has received an honorary acting award at the Talia Festival of Comedy for her role in the stage play ,,W pokoju obok” (2013), the Andrzej Nardelli Prize for the best début on stage of dramatic theatres in the 2012/2013 season (she played Irina in the stage play “Three Sisters” by Anton Chekhov), or an individual acting award for her role as Ewa Zła Nowicka in the stage play ,,Ikebana”, awarded during the 24th edition of Ogólnopolski Konkurs na Wystawienie Polskiej Sztuki Współczesnej (All-Poland Staged Contemporary Play Contest), in 2018. 

Her first appearance in a full feature film was in „Korowód” (2007) by Jerzy Stuhr, in which she portrayed Marynia Dąbrowska. Later on, she was cast in such films as ,,Święty interes” (2010), „Uwikłanie”/”Entaglement” (2011), or in ,,Kler”/”Clergy” (2018) by Wojciech Smarzowski, one of the most recognisable feature films in recent years. 

To those following popular Polish TV series, she was Magda in „Plebania”, and Wiola in „Ludzie Chudego”. She made a guest appearance in such film productions as „Ojciec Mateusz”, „Rezydencja”, „Julia”, „Pierwsza miłość” and „Świat według Kiepskich”.
