Warnke Katarzyna

Katarzyna Warnke was born on 30th November 1976, in Grudziądz. She is a Polish film and theatre actress, as well as a theatre director and playwright.

She graduated from Jan III Sobieski Secondary School No. 2 in Grudziądz. It was as early as during her secondary-school education that she started her acting adventure at Teatr Wizji i Ruchu (The Theatre of Vision and Motion) in Grudziądz. Following her school-leaving examination (Matura), she moved to Warsaw, where she started studying history of art at the University of Warsaw. However, her passion for acting prevailed. She abandoned her art-history studies and in 2002 enrolled in the Department of Acting at the Ludwik Solski State Drama School in Kraków.

Katarzyna made her directing début during her studies. She directed a stage play adapted from Nettaiju (The Tropical Tree) by Yukio Mishima, which was performed at Teatr 38 in Kraków. Katarzyna Warnke made all the costumes herself, as well as being the creator of the music, lighting, and production design.

In the years 2002-2007, she performed at the Helena Modrzejewska National Stary Theatre in Kraków, where she worked with Kazimierz Kutz in Ladies and Hussars and The School for Wives, with Mikołaj Grabowski in Liberation, and with Andrzej Wajda in Macbeth, to name but a few. In the years 2007-2014 she performed at Teatr Rozmaitości (The Variety Theatre) in Warsaw, and, in the years 2016-2017, at the STUDIO Theatre Gallery.

In 2013, she directed her original monodrama entitled The Seducer, which premièred at the Nowy Teatr in Warsaw.

Katarzyna Warnke has also played in several TV productions. One could admire her talents in such TV series as Klan, Hotel 52, Teraz albo nigdy, Uwikłani, Lekarze (filmed in Toruń), Ojciec Mateusz, and Na dobre i na złe.

Regarding her film appearances, among others, she was cast in Botox (2017), Women of the Mafia (2018), and Women of the Mafia 2 (2019), all directed by Patryk Vega.

From 2016, the actress has designed her own line of handbags. To emphasise her ties with Grudziądz, she became an ambassador of the #gru brand, encouraging others to believe in themselves and nurture their passions.
