Threads and sceneries connected to Bydgoszcz

The series was made in many locations in Bydgoszcz, and many threads in it make references to the city itself, for example the fact that the main protagonist is a native of Bydgoszcz, and her father (played by Marian Opania) spent part of his life there.  The threads connected with visiting the father were filmed in Bydgoszcz.

The first “Bydgoszcz” episodes were filmed by the Brda River, in the autumn of 2011.
Then the film crew returned to film in the city, in April 2012.
They visited the following locations used in the film.

  • Zdzisław Krzyszkowiak Stadium at ul. Gdańska 163,
  • Mill Island and the beautiful “Venice of Bydgoszcz”,
  • The Old Town, where the film crew occupied the two upper storeys in one of the tenement houses,
  • The interiors of the Provincial and Municipal Public Libraries, the latter of which is situated by the Old Town
  • Bydgoszcz Airport,
  • The “Orzeł” cinema at the Municipal Cultural Centre,
  • the Copernicanum Hall at the Kazimierz Wielki University in Bydgoszcz at ul. Mikołaja Kopernika 1,
  • The office of the Vice-Chancellor of the Kazimierz Wielki University in Bydgoszcz, which was transformed into a Prosecuter’s office for the purposes of the series.

The film crew also went to other places near Bydgoszcz, for example Koronowo, where they shot a number of scenes in a penal institution there. The scenes shot in Koronowo were shown in episodes 8 and 9 of the second series. A number of shoots were done on location at a nearby beach in Samociążek.
