Janusz Połom was born on 16th October 1950, in Toruń. He was a cinematographer, film director, poet, lecturer and photographer.
In the years 1967-71 he was active in the amateur film movement, member of the “Grunwald” Amateur Film Club in Olsztyn. During his studies at the Polish National Film, Television and Theater School, he was a member of the Film Form Workshop. In 1975-86 lecturer at the Cinematography and Television Production Department of the Polish National Film, Television and Theater School in Lódz, in 1981-84 the dean of the department. In 1984-2001 he was in exile in Canada and Mexico, where, among others, he lectured at the Université du Quebec in Montreal and the Centro de Capacitacion Cinematografica in Mexico. After returning to Poland, a professor at the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn, lecturer at the Faculty of Art of the university. Author of many photo and multimedia exhibitions.
Janusz Połom died on 23rd October 2020, in Olsztyn. He was buried in the cemetery in Śliwice, near Tuchola.
