Jacek Kościuszko was born on 6th November 1977, in Ełk. He graduated in media arts at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. He currently works as a director, cinematographer, and producer of opening credits, video clips, and commercials. His work is a combination of his passion for images and music.
His diploma project involved four animated video clips, i.e. “Guide Me”, “In My Head”, “Kain i Abel”, and “Mr. Parabollic”. His work was selected as the best diploma project of 2003. The most popular of his animations, i.e. “Mr Parabollic” and “Mr. Parabollic: za żarciem” gained fame at many film festivals – for example, “Mr. Parabollic” was awarded the Golden Mannequin Award at the Tofifest International Film Festival, in 2004.
After defending his diploma, Jacek Kościuszko worked for two years as an academic teacher at the Department of Intermedia Visual Arts of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń.
In 2005, Jacek Kościuszko was involved in Kilka kromek chleba, a film about Mieczysław Ciechoński, which he edited and composed the music for. In the same year, he was a cinematographer for Katedra Św. Janów directed by Ryszard Kruk. The film was a portrayal of the Gothic SS. John the Baptist and John the Evangelist Cathedral in Toruń. It was a combination of a documentary and an artistic film, which won the 2nd place at the IFF Tour Film 2004 in Poznań.
In 2014, a series of short films dedicated to five heroes of WWII was made. The authors offered a closer look at the lives of such people as: Bronisław Hellwig, Jan Zumbach, Jan Grudziński, Zdzisław Pacak-Kuźmirski, and Józef Beck. The series features archive materials, interviews with experts, and shoots stylised as comic books, in which the actor is filmed against a hand-drawn stage set. Jacek Kościuszko was responsible for the cinematography and animation in the series.
He works with the most popular Polish artists and musicians and transforms their music into images. He has already cooperated with such notable artists as: Katarzyna Nosowska, Agnieszka Chylińska, Dawid Podsiadło, Kult, T.Love, Bajm, and numerous others. He is the author of the video clip to “Nie mogę Cię zapomnieć” by Agnieszka Chylińska and “Nagasaki” by Kasia Nosowska, both of which brought him nominations for Fryderyk Awards.
Apart from video clips, he also produces opening credits for television programmes. His portfolio includes opening credits for “Iron Majdan”, “Projekt Lady”, “Hell’s Kitchen – Piekielna Kuchnia”, and the 9th edition of “You Can Dance – Poland”. As a film director, he has made a number of spots for social campaigns or TV commercials.
