Grzmociński Lech

He was born on 7th April 1927, in Toruń. He was a theatre, film and television actor. In 1952, he passed an external acting exam, in Warsaw.

In the years 1949-1953, he was part of a team of actors at the Stefan Jaracz Theatre that operated in Olsztyn and Elbląg. Starting in the autumn of 1953, he joined Teatr Ziemi Pomorskiej (in Bydgoszcz and Toruń), where he continued to perform on theatre stages in Toruń, until 1957. That year, he moved to Tricity (Trójmiasto) and started working at Wybrzeże Theatre in Gdańsk, which he continued till 1983.

Lech Grzmociński appeared in film for the first time in ,,Podhale w ogniu”/”Mountains in Flames” (1955), directed by Jan Batory and Henryk Hechtkopf, which portrays the Kostka-Napierski Uprising of 1651. In the film, he played one of the Cossacks. In 1962, he played in the film ,,Mój stary“/”My Old Man”directed by Janusz Nasfeter, which was partly shot in Toruń. In 1970, the actor played the role of Konkol in the film ,,Kaszebe”/”Kashebe, Legend of Love” directed by Ryszard Ber.

Lech Grzmociński worked with the most famous Polish film directors, such as Jan Majewski in his television series ,,Królowa Bona” (1980), Jan Łomnicki in the TV series ,,Dom” (1982), or Andrzej Wajda in the film ,,Człowiek z żelaza” / “Man of Iron” (1981).

He died on 8th May 1984, in Gdańsk. He was interred at Łostowicki cemetery in Gdańsk.
